Transition to continuous publication
Dear academic community, researchers, and readers,
We are pleased to announce a significant change for The Journal of Altoandina Research that will mark a turning point in our editorial trajectory. Starting in January 2025, our journal will officially adopt a continuous publication model, moving away from the quarterly issue system that has been part of our history for years.
Why This Change?
Aligning with global trends in scientific communication and responding to our community's needs, we have decided to implement this new system to:
✅ Accelerate knowledge dissemination: Waiting times between acceptance and publication will be significantly reduced.
✅ Increase scientific impact: By publishing articles immediately after approval, we facilitate their access, citation, and practical application.
✅ Optimize editorial processes: This model allows us to handle manuscripts more efficiently without compromising academic rigor.
✅ Adapt to international standards: Following the example of leading indexed journals.
Key Details of This New Phase
Article-by-article publication: Each paper will be published online in its final version as soon as it completes the editing process, with a permanent DOI.
Annual volumes: For organizational and indexing purposes, annual volumes will be compiled, but articles will be available immediately.
Same scientific rigor: We maintain our double-blind peer-review policy and high ethical standards.
Benefits for Authors
- Priority visibility:Your research will reach the global community faster.
- Real-time metrics: You can monitor downloads and citations from day one.
- Flexibility: No rigid submission deadlines (manuscripts are evaluated year-round).
For Readers and Institutions
- Timely access to scientific findings without waiting for issue closures.
- Customizable subscriptions and alerts to receive articles based on your interests.
Next Steps
- January 2025: Official implementation of the continuous system.
- Renewed platform: We are upgrading our website for a more intuitive experience.
- Retrospective issues: The complete historical archive will remain accessible.
We invite researchers to join this new phase by submitting their contributions.
We appreciate the trust placed in us and reaffirm our commitment to Altoandina science.
Sincerely,
Editorial Committee
